The exhibitions Diversity of Modernity (I and II) examine globalisation processes in Europe and China, which have manifested themselves since the beginning of the 21st century in complex restructuring and changes in social and economic areas. Relentless new developments as well as different approaches and definitions of the term “modernity” have led to a radical change of social values, to the loss of traditions, to changed living and environmental conditions.

Two of the Austrian artists, Iris Andraschek and Anna Lerchbaumer, developed works on site during a three-week residency in Chongqing and combined them with works they had brought with them. Iris Andraschek’s theme: (temporary) open spaces – urban gardening; Anna Lerchbaumer’s focus: vertical movement in urban space (lifts, escalators). From Austria: Gerlinde Miesenböck, Susanne Gamauf and the two artist-in-residence artists.

The cooperation and exchange of ideas with the operators and employees of ORGANHAUS was interesting and exciting. The megacity of Chongqing was an inspiring challenge. The necessary change from the originally planned exhibition space, the LP-Space, to the Galaxy Museum turned out to be an ideal solution. Perfect technical support as well as professional assistance with the set-up. The Galaxy Museum also scores with a higher visitor rate. The opening was very satisfying for everyone, good feedback and lots of visitors. The director of ORGANHAUS, Yang Shu, could well imagine further joint projects in the future.
